Species Spotlight: Calling Frog Survey

February 24 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free
FPWC Headquarters
One of the early signs of spring is the sound of chorusing frogs as they call from wetlands throughout the region. And with only a handful of frog and toad species in the area, the Calling Frog Survey is an easy way to get involved as a citizen scientist, collecting field data about these amphibians. Attend this informative session to learn to identify native frogs and toads by their distinctive calls, and find out whether the Calling Frog Survey is for you. Presented by Allison Sacerdote-Velat of the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago.
Pre-register for this session online by clicking HERE no later than Monday, February 19th if you wish to reserve a printed copy of the instructional materials at the event.  Walk-ins are always welcome, though space is limited.
This session is free and open to anyone interested in learning about frogs; however, those interested in volunteering as official FPWC frog Monitors will need to attend this training. Contact our volunteer coordinator via e-mail at komalley@winnebagoforest.org, or call (815) 877-6100 for more information.
