Species Spotlight: Plants

February 3 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

FPWC Headquarters

Plant monitoring can be a pleasant way to spend time outdoors during the growing season. And there will be new opportunities to volunteer as a plant monitor in 2018. Watch Plants is a new program designed to collect data about plants worth watching, whether because they are indicators of significant environmental conditions or are perceived as new invaders in the area. Another plant-monitoring program will focus on phenology:  the timing of certain life-cycle events for selected species. Volunteer monitors will have a number of options for species to monitor and Forest Preserve sites at which to do so. This session is free and open to anyone interested in learning about plants.

The informative program will be led by Greg Rajsky, Naturalist at Severson Dells Nature Center and Ed Cope, Restoration Ecologist with the Natural Land Institute.

Pre-register for this session online by clicking HERE no later than Monday, January 29th if you wish to reserve a printed copy of the instructional materials at the event.  Walk-ins are always welcome, though space is limited.
