Wild Turkeys in Fact and Folklore

Not long ago, our native wild turkeys had been extirpated from much of the region; their return to our woodlands has been a conservation success story. Turkeys are quite distinctive, both in physiology and in behavior, so let’s find out more about these fascinating birds that Benjamin Franklin called, “respectable… and withal a true original native of America.”
