Get Outside!Winnebago is a new and innovative back-to- nature program committed to encouraging children and families to be more physically active, and to enjoy the many outdoor opportunities in forest preserves. Participating teams earn points by having their passports stamped for each scheduled activity they attended. Get Outside! offers a full schedule and wide variety of outdoor recreation opportunities. Get Outside! ran throughout June and July 2015 offering activities and events including guided hikes, canoeing clinics, nature study, camping, 5K fun run, golf, bird hikes, river study, paddling trips, archaeology and more. Teams earning enough points qualified for the grand prize drawings.

Jamie Johannsen, FPWC Director of Marketing and Community Relations, says “Get Outside! was a big success with 112 teams registered and over 875 people attending activities.” FPWC plans to offer Get Outside! in summer 2016 to provide even more opportunities for people to enjoy diverse activities in the 10,300 acres of 42 forest preserves.
