In observation of Archaeology Awareness Month, Macktown Living History Education Center is inviting the public to observe an archaeological dig at the historic site in Macktown Forest Preserve. You may even get to try your hand at screening for artifacts! Professional archaeologist, Jay Martinez, of Midwest Archaeological Research Services, will¬†explain the historic and pre-historic significance of the dig site and the methods used to¬†excavate it.
