Hike Kieselburg Forest Preserve

Kieselburg Forest Preserve
Entrance on 5801 Swanson Road, Roscoe, IL
2.9 miles of mowed trail

Come see one of our largest prairie restoration projects at Kieselburg Forest Preserve and enjoy an easy, serene walk through the prairie, woodlands, and wetland. There are trailheads located near each of the two large shelter houses. From these trailheads you will find nearly three miles of trails that see every ecological aspect of the preserve. The trails are designed as one large loop comprised of three smaller loops so, you have the option of choosing the length of your hike, and whether you prefer to hike in the prairie, woodlands, or a mix. Along the trails, rabbits, an array of birds, as well as deer can be spotted frequently. The trails are very well maintained and marked, and quite flat. In addition to the trails there are two model airplane flying fields, and ball fields. Kieselburg is a favorite preserve for family time outdoors, and beginning hikers.
