The Kishwaukee River is nearly in Allen Penticoff’s back yard
and in the last two decades he has hiked, climbed, kayaked, and explored every nook and cranny of the Kishwaukee corridor forest preserves. Allen’s knowledge and appreciation of the special ravines, streams, caves, prairies and woods have inspired him to invest in their protection and management by becoming a volunteer trail steward and habitat restoration (REAP) steward. Although he has been a transformative force in the Kishwaukee River preserves, he is most proud of having visited all 42 Winnebago County forest preserves.
