The meeting was called to order at 4:03 PM, by President Tilly.  Commissioner Judy Barnard called the roll.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE     Mike Eickman led the assemblage in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Audrey made a motion to go into closed session at 4:06 pm to discuss land acquisitions.  At 4:26 pm, the meeting returned to open session. No action was taken while in closed session.

Land Acquisition Funds Resolution – Audrey Johnson made a motion, Gloria Lind seconded to approve the resolution for Land Acquisition Funds and IDNR Grant Proposal LWCF or OSLAD.  Motion passed unanimously.

Judy Barnard brought up her concerns regarding dogs at Severson Dells Forest Preserve.  Mike Holan addressed her concerns. The Board and Mike Holan discussed the dog issue in depth. The commissioners requested signs being installed on the trail stating that allowing dogs at Severson Dells will be on a trial basis.

Mike Holan brought up a concern in reference to a recent inappropriate communication between a Board member and Tom Hartley concerning the habitat restoration work being conducted at Cedar Cliff. The same Board member later contacted Mike stating he will tell anyone upset about the tree removal to contact Tom Hartley. An inappropriate cardboard sign was removed from the Cedar Cliff restorations site stating “UPSET ABOUT THE TREE CUTING, CALL WCFP 815-877-6100 ASK FOR TOM”. The Commissioners and Mike Holan discussed the issue and President Jeff Tilly stated that any questions from the Board be brought only to Mike Holan and not staff.

Meeting adjourned at 5:29 PM.

Next board meeting 5:30 PM, Wednesday, August 21, Severson Dells Nature Center
