Brush and Dead Tree Removal at Roland Olson Forest Preserve
The Natural Resource Department will be conducting some brush clearing and some dead tree removal at Roland Olson Forest Preserve coming up in Mid-November-December 2015. The work will consist of running a skid loader with the forestry mower attachment in the newer restoration area primarily adjacent and around the shelter house out to the drive. The purpose of this is to control unwanted woody stemmed vegetation from establishing itself in those areas. Additionally, along the trail running directly behind the shelter, is a row of trees with some dead Elm trees which will be removed as a safety precaution for the trail users.
