We nurture nature.

Volunteers play an essential role in our forest preserves.  Whether you assist at a one-time event, or commit to a long-term project, the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County’s volunteer program offers flexible opportunities that appeal to a wide variety of interests – for individuals and groups alike!  Find a special niche that best fits your existing interests and skills – or expand your horizons! Contact us to discuss the endless possibilities.

We are grateful to the Blackhawk Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America who helped remove invasive plants species at Severson Dells Forest Preserve recently.Take a peek at Scouts Day – August 19, 2017!

Thanks also to the Rockford University Freshmen students who participated in the annual PLUNGE activity at Kishwaukee Gorge Forest Preserve on Monday, August 21, 2017. Due to their help removing invasive plants like honeysuckle and buckthorn, native plants and wildlife will be allowed to thrive in a healthier habitat! HERE are some more snapshots from that morning.
