Valentine’s Day Snowshoe/Ski/Hike

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a fun and unique night outing in a beautiful setting! On Saturday, February 14th, the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County will host an evening ski/snowshoe/hike event at Hononegah Forest Preserve from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Complementary moonlight, beautiful scenery, hot cocoa and a warming fire for all romantics! Bring your own cross-country skis or rent snow shoes on site from Rocktown Adventures for $10. Park and gather at the Towering Pines shelter house. Explore the designated route with a group led by Rocktown Adventure’s outdoorsman and naturalist, Rick Barton, or make your way around the loop on your own. Preserve will close and gates will be locked at 8:30 pm. Please call 815/877-6100 to register (24 pairs of adult snowshoes and 6 pairs of youth snowshoes- available by reservation). If weather is questionable call 815/494-6977 to confirm that event is still happening. Free and open to the public.
