Carpenter

The person in this position provides for the general repairs, construction, and upgrades to preserve buildings and infrastructure as needed throughout the District utilizing intermediate-level construction, fabrication and troubleshooting skills. Typical hours are 7:30a.m.-4:00 p.m. weekdays (Monday-Friday), with some occasional overtime work required. Preserve Maintenance –  North/South Areas. Perfect for those who enjoy working outdoors or are interested in entering a career in the parks and recreation field, you’ll perform routine groundskeeping tasks amid beautiful surroundings!  Mowing, trimming, litter pickup, and facility cleaning are just some of the varied tasks. Campground Host – Hononegah, Seward Bluffs and Sugar River Forest Preserves. Who wouldn’t want to work where the great outdoors is your office and the daily commute is a hike around the campground?  We’re looking for individuals or couples who enjoy the outdoors to serve as campground hosts, where you’ll greet visitors, collect camping fees, track  vacancies and perform minor maintenance tasks.  You must be at least 21 years old and provide your own recreational vehicle and camping equipment, but you’ll receive free camping privileges with utilities during your service! Campground Attendant – Sugar River Forest Preserves. Serves as an informational source to the public with respect to the campground, activities within the preserve, and community attractions. Represents the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County in a positive manner and maintains a working knowledge of rules and regulations in order to effectively communicate and educate campground customers. Processes Point of Sale (P.O.S.) transactions with campground customers, monitors reservations and campground activity. The typical season is mid-April to mid-November. Natural Resource Assistant – Central Shop. Assume a vital role in habitat restoration! Assistant Volunteer Trainer/Natural Resource Assistant – Central Shop. Under the direction of the Natural Resource Manager and in cooperation with the Volunteer Trainer, the Assistant Volunteer Trainer assumes a vital role in the training, education and supervision of volunteers in natural resource activities as identified in our natural resource management plan. Additional routine, manual natural resource tasks may be required. Employment is for an average of 10-15 hours per week, spring through fall, dependent on scheduled volunteer events, natural resource department workload and weather conditions. Outside Attendant – Atwood Homestead, Ledges, Macktown Golf Courses. We need a go-getter who keeps golf operations running smoothly!  You’ll get our golf carts ready each morning, assist with the driving range, check bunkers to ensure they are freshly raked, fill divots, repair ball marks, assist with pace of play, and more!  Hours vary.
