Forest Preserves of Winnebago County Receives Stewardship Grant

In July 2016, Forest Preserves of Winnebago County was awarded a grant from the Nature Conservancy’s Volunteer Stewardship Network to purchase supplies for FPWC’s volunteer stewardship program. $350 was awarded to FPWC for the purchase of:

  • 6 Zenport Cut & Hold Heavy Duty Hand Pruners
  • 12 Wells Lamont Grain Pigskin Gloves (M/L)
  • 1 Chainsaw Safety Helmet
  • 1 Solo Hand Sprayer 456 – 2.25 Gal
  • 1 Solo Stainless Steel Universal Wand Assembly

Volunteers assist with planting and propagating native plants and trees, seed collection and invasive species control, as well as wildlife monitoring.

Forest Preserves of Winnebago County relies on volunteers to assist with the restoration and management of its 10,300 acres of restored lands and wildlife habitat.
