Forest Preserves of Winnebago County Receives Stewardship Grant
Forest Preserves of Winnebago County received a grant from the Nature Conservancy’s Volunteer Stewardship Network to purchase supplies for FPWC’s volunteer stewardship program. $821.00 was awarded to FPWC for the purchase of bow saws, bow saw replacement blades, loppers, work gloves and mesh vests for volunteers to wear when working in the preserves. Volunteers assist with planting and propagating native plants and trees, seed collection and invasive species control, as well as wildlife monitoring.
Forest Preserves of Winnebago County relies on volunteers to assist with the restoration and management of its 10,300 acres of restored lands and wildlife habitat.
