Hike Fuller Memorial Forest Preserve
Fuller Memorial Forest Preserve
Entrance at 6700 Fitzgerald Rd, Rockford, IL
2 miles of mowed trail
The forest preserve and bird sanctuary here at Fuller Memorial were generously donated by Rockford residents and wildlife enthusiasts, Levi and Esther Fuller. This land was owned by members of the Fuller family from 1841 through its donation in 1950. Since that time the preserve has been transformed into a place for all wildlife enthusiasts to enjoy. There are two miles of flat and wide, nicely groomed, dirt hiking trails that show off the lands savannah, prairie, oak and pine forests. The bird sanctuary is private, an untouched natural place for the birds only. However, still expect to see and hear many of our colorful winged friends flying overhead while walking these sun soaked trails. Also at Fuller are ball fields and plenty of open land for play. Come out and experience Fuller Memorial forest preserve, take a stroll or a jog on its two miles of trail, watch and listen for the beloved birds, and discover for yourself why the Fullers were so passionate about wildlife and natural lands.
