2019 Get Outside, Get Healthy passport Winners Announced!
Winners of Get Outside, Get Healthy! Reap Rewards
A lucky team of adventurers has won the grand prize for participating in Forest Preserves of Winnebago County’s Get Outside! program. On August 6, 2019 the passport of The Wolfe family was drawn to receive this year’s grand prize which included a group river paddle with Rocktown Adventures, a Severson Dells Nature Center membership, a Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden membership, birdwatching caps and guide books from Sand Bluff Bird Observatory and many more items to enhance nature explorations.
Beth and Derek Wolfs and their children Jacob (9), Lydia (7), and Nathan (4) have been participating in Get Outside, Get Healthy! for the last four years. They look forward to getting their passports each year because the activities are free and family oriented. The Wolfe team compiled a total of 30 points by attending a variety of guided activities in forest preserves.
Get Outside, Get Healthy! is a back-to-nature program designed to encourage children and families to be more physically active and to enjoy the many outdoor opportunities in forest preserves. Participating teams earn points by having their Get Outside, Get Healthy! passports stamped for each scheduled activity they attend. GOGH offers over 45 scheduled outdoor recreation opportunities. Watch for new GOGH passports in June 2020 offering activities and events including guided hikes, paddling trips, nature study, fishing, camping, golf, bird watching, river study, yoga, and more.
