Welcome to New Staff

Two new employees have been hired to join the team at FPWC’s Severson Dells Nature Center location. Jessie Crow-Mermel began in December 2018 as the Development & Marketing Assistant. In this new position Jessie creates and distributes marketing and communications tools and  also assists with fundraising and development initiatives. A life-long Winnebago County resident, Jessie has made the forest preserves part of her and her family’s nature-centered lifestyle. Jessie is thrilled to share her extensive skills and experience as an educator, writer, and designer with Severson Dells and the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County. When she’s not writing newsletters, designing brochures or enhancing the SDNC website, you’ll find her hiking in the woods or kayaking one of the county’s rivers.

Andrea Wallace was recently hired to serve as Naturalist/Educator at Severson Dells. Andrea grew up as a “Severson kid”, spending many hours exploring the preserve’s woods and creek, and participating in its educational camps and programs. As she and her interest in nature and ecology grew, Andrea became a volunteer at Severson Dells, and eventually joined the summer camp staff. Along with  her personal love for Severson Dells, Andrea brings deep understanding of the natural world and a sound ecological education which she looks forward to sharing with visitors of all ages. In her new role Andrea will be leading environmental education programs and camps, managing Citizen Science programs for FPWC, and managing restoration efforts at Severson Dells in partnership with the FPWC Natural Resources Department.
