New North Area Preserve Manager, Scott Stewart
Scott Stewart began as the north area Preserves Manager in June. Scott grew up in the Durand area and attended Durand High School and attended Rock Valley College. He also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology, with a minor in Environmental Studies at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. His work experience that includes the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Applied Ecological Services, Belvedere Park District, & Davey Resource Group. He holds a Class A CDL, an Illinois Pesticide Applicators License, as well as CPR/First Aid Certification.
Scott will be responsible for managing 17 of the District’s 43 Forest Preserves, which includes the Northeast and Northwest portions of Winnebago County. This area consists of 12 shelter houses, several boat& canoe launches, general picnic use areas, several playgrounds, equestrian and hiking trails, Sand Bluff Bird Observatory, Macktown Historic District, two campgrounds, two maintenance shop areas, and the Headquarters office complex.
