Play the Preserves Golf Scholarship
The Forest Preserves of Winnebago County is excited to introduce a newly developed scholarship fund beginning in 2019. We feel that the Play the Preserves Golf Scholarship is a great way to give back to the community while continuing to grow the game of golf!
Play the Preserve Scholarship Mission:
The Play the Preserves Golf Scholarship Fund is devoted to assisting local students in Winnebago County pursue their educational goals while learning, working, and growing in a positive work environment.
Qualifying candidates may apply for one of four paid part-time seasonal positions beginning May 1st of 2019 (Deadline of May 31, 2019). All applicants will be reviewed by our scholarship committee and if accepted into the program, candidates will have an opportunity to:
- Work as a paid part-time seasonal employee within our golf operation, earning valuable work experience and money towards future educational expenses.
- Volunteer for one or more community events hosted by the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County.
- Earn a $500 scholarship award.
Scholarship Employment Application Requirements…
- Male or Female student attending high school in Winnebago County
- Applicant must be entering his/her senior year
- Valid driver’s license
- Available to work weekends
- Applicant may NOT be related to any persons under the employ of Forest Preserves of Winnebago County
- Must meet or exceed all other existing district employment requirements
Scholarship Criteria…
- Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Submit a short essay (500 word minimum)outlining the importance of the Forest Preserve District’s mission & purpose as well as the impact that the golf operation has on the community it serves
- Volunteer for one or more community events hosted by the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County
- Provide two references: Personal, Academic or Athletic
