Welcome Liz Hucker, FPWC Wildlife Biologist

We are pleased to introduce the newest member of the Forest Preserve of Winnebago County, Liz Hucker! Liz joined our Natural Resource Department on June 3, 2024 as Wildlife Biologist. In this position, Liz will be developing a comprehensive wildlife management and conservation program, as well as identifying species of concern within the forest preserve throughout Winnebago County.

Liz attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she conducted snake and turtle thermal ecology research. She also worked at Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation as a hunting guide and shotgun instructor, and at the Forest Preserve of Cook County as a wildlife technician.


Liz is looking forward to learning from fellow FPWC colleagues and exploring new habitat in Winnebago County.





We asked Liz a couple questions to help you get to know her better:


Q: Do you have any pets?

A: “Yes! Snakes, a tortoise and invertebrates."


Q: What is your favorite food?

A: “Jalapeno Cheetos"


Q: What is your favorite book or movie?

A: “Jurassic Park"


Q: If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

A: “I would be a bighorn sheep so I could live in the mountains."


Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time/what are your hobbies?

A: “I enjoy painting, birding, and wildlife photography."


Q: Name one thing that is on your bucket list.

A: “Work with grizzly bears"


We are excited to have Liz on our team and can't wait to see what she will do for the wildlife in our forest preserves!
