Audrey Johnson made a motion to go into closed session at 7:09 p.m. to discuss land acquisition and personnel.

Land Acquisition – Funderburg property – Mike Holan gave an update on the property.  This land acquisition is a big piece of property that connects multiple preserves and counties.  Mike states that there is no closing date yet, however he is hoping for a date mid-August.  Mike did a walk through on June 16 of the property with Vaughn Stamm and Mike Groves.  There are some things that need to be done on the property in regards to tree harvesting.  The erosion issues need to be taken care of as well as a few more trees need to be taken down to the ground.  Closing will probably happen before all of the logs are removed.  The logs are not in the woods, which shouldn’t pose a problem.  Mike is hoping all those issues will be taken care of in the next few weeks.  In addition, he would also like to have special signage acknowledging Clean Energy.  Jeff Tilly and Judy Barnard would like to have a press conference regarding the acquisition of the new property, once it is closed.  Judy would like to make sure that the press conference states that the acquisition was due to the Clean Energy grant and how it connects corridors, etc.  Judy would also like Land Advisory council as well as Natural Land Institute invited to the press conference.

Closings – The closings for the Lithuanian Club and Carter/Ferguson property are scheduled for June 18, 2020.  Once those properties are closed, the Preserves ownership will be increased by 105 acres.

Mike also reminded Commissioners that anything that is discussed in closed session must stay in closed session and everything in closed session is extremely confidential.

Audrey Johnson made a motion to go into open session at 8:18.

At 8:18 p.m. the meeting returned to open session.   No action was taken while in closed session.
